Don't Get Board

In the run up to the summer break, Mr Wade’s Year 9 Design and Technology students were busy producing board games.

The board games formed part of the end of year assessment for the students and the task was designed to consolidate students’ knowledge of techniques and processes learned throughout the year, as well as stretching their skills by applying them on a different product.

As part of the project, students used 2D and 3D design software, using manufacturing processes such as the the laser cutter, vinyl cutter, 3D printer as well as developing their hand working skills.

The outcomes have varied from ‘Shogi’ (a Japanese Chess game), ‘Guess Who’- an updated version of a traditional Chinese Chess board and even a ‘Harrow themed Monopoly’ called ‘Harropoly’ complete with House Points instead of money and 3D printed School Buses.
